Rebranding strategy in a word cloud

Is it time for a brand refresh?

By Blog

A successful rebrand entails more than just a redesigned logo.

Some brands may require an entire overhaul. This can include evaluating your current brand, assessing your company goals or marketing strategies, and researching or conducting focus groups to understand how customers feel about your brand.

Three Reasons to Refresh Your Brand

There are several factors that can influence a company to rebrand, including:

  1. Rebuilding a loyal following
  2. Embracing a new philosophy, values, or mission
  3. Desiring a fresh new look

The History of Popular Rebrands

Some of the most well-known and influential brands have updated their brand more than once or twice.

For instance, McDonald’s has refreshed its brand at least once a decade. Their most recent rebrand incorporates vibrant colors on the packaging and in stores, as opposed to their signature red and yellow. However, the famous golden arches haven’t gone anywhere. Rebranding has also included updated taglines, from “You deserve a break today” to “I’m lovin’ it” the fast-food giant has included brand slogans into their marketing.

MasterCard is another recognizable brand with its red and yellow circles. The credit card company upgraded their logo, website, and other marketing staples for a complete brand overhaul in 2019.

Hardware and appliance staple, Sears had undergone several rebrands. From it’s start as Sears & Roebuck in 1906, the retailer relied on catalogs to sell products. After opening brick and mortar stores in 1925, Sears quickly became one of the biggest retailers in the nation. Known for hardware and appliances, Sears rebranded in the 1990’s to promote their softlines, including women’s fashion, shoes, men’s wear and kids’ clothing. Marketing efforts promoted “The Softer Side of Sears” to women. The latest rebranding effort in 2020 has fallen flat as many pointed out that the new Sears logo bears a striking resemblance to Air B&B.

Ready to Refresh?

Now that you’re familiar with the definition of rebranding and case studies for reference, you may decide that it’s time for a rebrand. Whether you’re looking to rename, redefine, or rebuild your brand or business, we can help!

Baseline Creative is equipped to redesign your brand from the ground up. We will assess your current brand, and recommend strategies and innovations based on our research and industry knowledge. Contact us to have a conversation about where your brand is and where you would like it to go.

Case Study: EPIC Vets

By Blog

In 2017, veterinarian and entrepreneur, Dr. Lonny Pace reached out to Baseline Creative to rebrand an emergency pet clinic located in Temecula, California. The Emergency Pet Clinic of Temecula, now called EPIC Vets, needed an all-new look including a new website, new branding, social media management, and reputation management.

Brand Identity, Web Design & Social Media

The designers at Baseline worked to create a new logo and identity for EPIC Vets. As the new owner of the clinic, Dr. Pace wanted to breathe new life into the business. The new logo, identity, and brand standards were created and used in print collateral including updated business cards, brochures, and promotional items for EPIC’s staff and patients.

The website EPIC had needed a design update and needed to be optimized for search engine optimization (SEO). Baseline built the new website and focused on organic SEO which was lacking in the previous website. Traffic increased on the website 100% from January 2017 to December 2017. Organic traffic accounted for 56.5% of the traffic to the website and paid search (Google campaigns) accounted for another 12.2%. In the past year, online forms and even an app for EPIC has helped them process patients faster and more efficiently—including communicating new Covid precautions.

The Baseline team also created social media content and began managing all the platforms for EPIC, increasing their social media presence and their brand awareness. Social listening and quick responses helped the page grow and helped the EPIC team manage and respond to reviews. EPIC fans are engaged and enjoy the educational and playful content created for the brand.

Reputation Management

Reputation management, including online reviews, was important to EPIC. As an emergency vet clinic, the patients they see are often critical. As a result of the stressful and emotional nature of clinic visits, some online reviews were negative, especially if animals were not able to be saved. EPIC began using Baseline’s Full-Service Review survey tool to survey patients’ families immediately after treatments. The survey allowed EPIC patients to link directly to Google and Facebook reviews for people who scored EPIC with 4 or more stars. For those with negative feedback, their results were immediately directed to the clinic where the team could assess the situation and reach back out to the reviewer to resolve issues before they were online. The result is that the average review for EPIC increased from 3.1 stars to 4.1 stars.

Why Baseline Creative?

Since starting work with EPIC Vets, Baseline has built a great relationship and has been involved in many additional projects for Dr. Pace. When asked why he enjoys working with Baseline Creative, Dr. Pace said, “Baseline follows the ‘yes’ philosophy to customer service that we follow at EPIC.  If you can dream they will find a way to make it happen.”

M-Care Healthcare website

Launching a Business in a Pandemic

By Blog

You can successfully launch a new business in a pandemic. Baseline Creative worked with Amanda Mogoi at M-Care Healthcare to help her launch the business from a side-gig to a full-time job. As a health care company with a mission to serve the underserved, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, immigrants, homebound individuals, and those who are economically disenfranchised, Amanda and her team enlisted Baseline Creative to upgrade their brand, website, and to get the word out about their new location.

“M-Care’s mission and the passion the Mogoi’s have for helping others spoke to us and we knew we wanted to be a part of the good they are doing in our community,” said Bridgette West-Williams, Executive Director at Baseline Creative. “We have a wonderful relationship with M-Care and we appreciate the trust they’ve put in us to grow their business.”

Updating the Brand

Baseline Creative helped M-Care Healthcare with rebranding the company, including changes to the logo, creating brand standards, and creating a consistent look for the business’ marketing materials.

In addition, Baseline built a new website for M-Care with complete search engine optimization (SEO) and document downloads for new patients.

Baseline also crafted content calendars for M-Care’s social media and created social media ads aimed at growing the M-Care audience online specifically targeting the people M-Care serves.

The Results

The result? In just two months, M-Care is busy scheduling more patients than originally projected. “We couldn’t be happier that we chose Baseline Creative for all of our marketing needs. The team has been absolutely phenomenal! Baseline staff has been attentive to our needs, always listening and taking our vision to the next level creating great results for our business,” Mogoi said.

As for Baseline, we were happy to help M-Care reach their initial goals and we are excited to help them continue to grow. “It’s exciting to see their business growing so rapidly and being a part of the amazing work M-Care is doing,” Wes-Williams said.

Never Go to the Grocery Store Hungry

By Blog

I shop. All the time. I love to go to the grocery store. It’s my place filled with my people. Perhaps I should feel uncertainty and angst about being surrounded by people I don’t know. However, that’s not my headspace.

I live vicariously through the daily updates I receive from grocery store employees. They share excerpts of their lives and families. I reciprocate and I consider them friends.

While I shop, I reflect on what I treasure most: sitting down with my family and listening to their thoughts and feelings. The dinner table, that is where the magic happens.

Two pieces of collective advice to share that pertain to life, and marketing.

Turn Strangers into Friends

If I don’t know them, I will get to know them. Legendary designer and creative Mike Quon visited Wichita many years ago to speak at the Wichita AIGA event and I had the honor of driving him around for the day.

Mike Quon is humble, especially given everything he’s accomplished.

More than any of his success, though – is a piece of advice that he shared with me. It goes something like this: talk to five people you don’t know, every day. Life is about connecting with others.

Don’t Let Desperation Make Decisions for You

When you’re looking for help with marketing, design, websites, software or apps, take your time!

Creative agencies are all different. For instance, we refer quite a few people we meet to other agencies based on the approach that is right for their needs.

More than anything else, understand that the value of an investment grows over time. Nurturing a plant yields significantly more fruit.

About Baseline Creative, Inc., a Full-Service Creative Agency

At Baseline Creative, we’ve found a niche. We are performance-based. What this means for our clients is that instead of having a contract for years, we have an agreement for service. Furthermore, we believe in transparency. We love talking with people and helping them find an appropriate fit between their brand(s) and their audience.

We’ve grown over the years through hard work, consistency, adaptation and earning the trust and respect of clients we serve.

Baseline Creative proudly offers marketing services to a variety of industries. For example, creative strategy, marketing, website design, app design, and software design. In addition, we also offer branding and identity, photography, social media management, videography, and animation. Further, we offer an array of other services and solutions, all done by our in-house team. We serve as a think tank and sounding board for many businesses, too.

We share many ubiquitous axioms.

Social Strategy: Nimble is Necessary

By Blog

At Baseline Creative, we love what we do, and we have fun. A social strategy might seem playful and fun for some brands, but it demands a tremendous amount of work.

A Good Strategy has Thought

Many factors go into a well-crafted strategy. For instance, beneficial continuity and spontaneity, as appropriate. Furthermore, images, illustrations, videos, animations, and linked content, all to delight your audience. Tone and velocity underscore the relevance and timeliness of the content you provide for consumption.

Don’t take time for granted, and make sure it has meaning.

A Great Strategy has Heart

Elevate your premise with a promise. Kindness is a beautiful thing to share and celebrate every day. Humility, strength, and pride also deliver compelling purpose and pair well with your message.

The Best Strategy has Purpose Beyond the Brand

Not every post is created equally, ideally. For instance, sharing in a conversation beyond something self-serving is the best way to create gravity-defying conversations. Building a brand requires effort. Supporting something greater than your brand alone makes your brand greater in the process.

Diminishing Results, Increasing Expectations

We create plans for our clients while involving them in the plan. Clients get very excited when the plan succeeds and goals are met or exceeded. However, one of the biggest challenges with the job is to convince them that new is necessary.

Many people think the same approach will generate the same results. But, they are mistaken. Using the same tactics erodes the value of the brand. It might also create audience expectations.

Whether you need us for branding, web design, or marketing strategy, we want to be who you turn to for your marketing needs. Get in contact with us to start on your next project.

Baseline Creative Award-Winning Design and Development

By Blog

One of the best things about our culture at Baseline Creative is that we aren’t a building of egos—we’re a team. We often shy away from tooting our own horn, but recently, we entered a couple of projects in the international MarCom awards and we won—so, toot toot!

The MarCom Awards began in 2004 and is now one of the largest, most respected creative competitions in the world. The MarCom Awards honor excellence in marketing and communication and is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). Each year, there are about 6,000 print and digital entries submitted from every state and several other countries, and Baseline Creative is honored to have received two awards among such competition.

The Platinum award was for Branding Refresh which included the design and development of a new website. The Gold award was for Animation Digital Video Creation.

“We are excited to have our work recognized,” said Nathan Williams, principal at Baseline Creative. “We put our hearts and creativity into each project, which made it difficult—but fun—to review our 2018 portfolio when we were working on our submissions,” Williams said. “It’s an incredible feeling when you know other marketing professionals see the value and quality in your work and reward you for it.”
